Artisans

At Sierra, we hold a profound belief that the artistry of our skilled artisans is the soul of our brand. Just as we're dedicated to the noble materials like Alpaca, wool, and recycled polyamide, we're equally committed to the talented individuals who bring our designs to life.

Our artisans are the guardians of time-honored traditions, the weavers of stories woven into every piece they create. With unwavering dedication, they transform raw materials into exquisite works of art, embodying a legacy of craftsmanship that stretches back through generations.

Each artisan we collaborate with is a testament to our vision of preserving the essence of the Andes while delivering exceptional quality. Their hands work tirelessly to ensure that every product carries the imprint of their skill, passion and heritage.

Julián Castillo

Julian and Ramon Castillo, hailing from the quaint village of Paccho Molino in Huancavelica, Peru, are two remarkable craftsmen.

Their journey into the world of weaving was inspired by their father, a skilled artisan who, at the tender age of sixteen, acquired the art of crafting traditional field products like 'puyu,' 'capapuyu,' dishcloths, and light cloth from a neighbor. His expertise ran so deep that he even constructed his looms, ensuring that both Julian and Ramon had the means to make a livelihood through this cherished craft.

“We are proud of our work and of working for our people.”

Celestino Hilario

Celestino Hilario Moran was born in the Community of Santa Barbara, Province and Department of Huancavelica. He is one before the last of seven siblings. His dream always was to use weaving as a mean to improve conditions of life for his people. He has grown with them and feels great responsibility to bring sustained jobs with textiles production.

Shortly after, he acquired a basic loom, set up shop on the bustling main avenue, and began weaving with a helping hand. From cloaks to shawls, his creations took shape, some people even brought their yarn, seeking his skilled touch.

By 1995, they had relocated to the Acobamba Province, where he invested in knitting machinery, including a sweater machine, an overlocking machine, and an advanced knitting loom, further expanding his craft.
